We believe children are best served when learning outside of school supports learning in the classroom, and vice versa. We align all of our exhibits and programs to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Children have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in school and gain experiences to prepare them for future learning in class.
Two chaperones per class are admitted free. Teachers are included in this chaperone ratio.
Full payment is due 30 days prior to your visit. The Museum does not provide day of arrival adjustment or refunds. All sales are final, no refunds or exchanges. Groups with fewer students than reserved will receive general Museum admission tickets (one ticket for each student that is paid for but is not attending). Tickets may be used for additional chaperones (2) accompanying your group. Excludes Title 1 admission program sponsored schools. Refunds will be made only in the event of Museum equipment failure, such as power failures or malfunctions in equipment.
Outside food is not permitted in the Museum. However, you may now reserve a private space for your group to eat if you order from our Fresh Café. Orders must be placed 5 business days in advance and paid in full. Lunches are non-refundable, unless cancelling within 48-hours. If the original order exceeds the number you bring on the actual visit, you are responsible for the remaining lunches.
Please let us know if your students have special challenges. Also, please let us know if your group needs a bilingual Discovery Guide. Plan to bring an interpreter if this is needed for your ESL class. Every effort will be made to provide a bilingual Discovery Guide for your tour; however, we cannot guarantee their availability.
Souvenir grab bags are available from our Museum Gift Shop for $4.00. If your organization is tax exempt, please bring a copy of your certificate. Please place your order at least 48 hours in advance of your visit.
Teachers are expected to screen their student’s health prior to arriving to the Museum. Schools and organizations may be asked to provide signed confirmation that no student on a tour is ill.
Schools are responsible to provide students with ID tags that include the name and telephone number of the sponsoring institution.
Our guided tours allow students to apply their knowledge and skills as they explore over 75 hands-on exhibit activities during five, 20-minute tour segments as lead by a museum facilitator. Scholarships are available for Title I students during the fall semester and January.

Looking for an extra hands-on experience for your students? The Chevron Maker Annex workshops expose participants to a handful of maker tools and materials, including 3D printing and laser cutting. SECRET Spy Game engages students in problem-solving activities including riddles, codes, and tasks that require core mathematical concepts.

Self-guided visits are perfect for teachers who want to lead their own tours of the museum. Students experience new worlds and make new discoveries about science, the environment, culture, math and the arts as they visit our 14 continuously changing exhibitions. Some special restrictions may apply during high-attendance periods.

Planning events for your Summer Camp or kids’ group? Reserve your group now and guarantee the fun. Groups always receive Fast Pass for our Kidtropolis and PowerPlay exhibits. Plan on spending at least three hours for a typical visit. Ideal for ages 5 to 12.
