About the Exhibit

This exhibit is currently closed. The Museum is committed to extensive cleaning and safety protocols and will re-open the exhibit at the appropriate time. We have adapted our Toddler Trail Map so that our youngest visitors can easily follow along and experience all the Museum has to offer safely.

Tot*Spot is designed to engage children ages 0-2 in meaningful experiences that encourage active play. This infant through toddler-friendly space fosters your child’s brain development through discovery, sensory exploration, experimentation, social communication, problem solving and imaginative play. The many interactives will grab their attention and keep them busy!

On-site nursing station available.

Toddler Trail

We’ve also created a suggestion list of what you and your toddler can do in other galleries throughout the museum. This list of activities can help your tot develop key executive functions essential in childhood development:

Educators

Tot*Spot has been thoughtfully designed to address developmental milestones of children ages 0-2.  The space features many opportunities for infants and toddlers to interact and focus on language, literacy, social-emotional, motor and cognitive development.

Tot*Spot is also meant to be an interactive experience between the parent/caregiver and the infant/toddler as each interaction will create moments of creativity, imagination, expression and discovery. The Museum continuously integrates and promotes key executive functions of the brain; those functions are filtering distractions, prioritizing tasks, goal-setting and achieving and controlling impulses.

What Parents are Saying

“It has been amazing to see the difference in how she now observes and plays with the manipulatives, from crawling to navigating the staircases. If you have a membership and come frequently, you don’t even have to buy toys at home.”

Scarf Blower

Watch them fly up and float down.

Toddlers place scarves into the blower and watch as they flow through a labyrinth of tubes, eventually blasting out and floating through the air just waiting for your toddler to catch.

Get some fresh air.

Children of all ages, including those too old for Tot*Spot, are invited to go out onto the balcony and engage in fun, imaginative play with playscapes and pedal cars!
